Universal credit

Hi, me and my partner used to be on UC and through that my daughter got the free 15 hours (she’s 2 turns 3 in November) but we’ve since left UC so for September will my daughter still be able to attend nursery in September through those hours or will she have to wait till she’s 3? Thank you

Hi, she can still attend you might need to set it up though a tax free childcare account as me and my partner work full time and our son goes to nursery on 15hrs free x

It depends which 15 hours they signed up under and what your council does, so if it was the 15 hours funding that was available pre April 2024 where you had to be low income to qualify, then each council works it out differently. For Birmingham, once you qualified, even if your circumstances changed after (for example you got a higher income), then you would still be eligible for the 15 hours up until they get the 30 hours the term after they turn 3 x

Yes you can get 15 hours free, all children over 9 months do now unless you earn over a £100k. You might also be able to claim 20% off any extra hours that you pay through the tax free childcare.
