Time

How does everyone find time to get things done? I feel like I don’t have time for myself or anything fun between baby, work, and housework.

We don’t. It gets easier as baby gets bigger but it’s really hard for a while. Especially when you’re used to being productive, or having any time at all to “relax”. I’m on my 3rd kid and I’ve been trying to figure out why this is so hard. Partly for us it’s because we’ve been unable/unwilling to outsource a lot of help given the state of the world over the last few years, and we have no family who are willing or able to help with the kids. I think if you can recruit help with baby or house work then you can get a bit of breathing room. But it does get easier as the kid gets bigger and more independent. Newborns need hands-on parenting basically 24/7

I lie that I have everything done 😂 I always have mess and laundry to do, but my mental health is more valuable to everyone

I went to the dentist the other day and felt like I was going for a spa day 🫠

I will leave things undone. Self care is important. That stuff will be there tomorrow. These kids will go to grandparents or aunties and I'm out 🤸🏾‍♀️

It is hard sometimes. Any "me" time I reserve for after baby goes to bed for the night. When he naps I do housework, and it still never all gets done. I Wfh most of the time and we have a nanny, and even then my "breaks" from work are often spent cleaning house lol. When he was newborn it was very difficult as he was waking up every 2 hours to feed, but even then I played video games in between lol. It's important to bake in that time for yourself. It just might not come as easily as before baby. It also helps to have family and/or a trusted babysitter every so often for those times you just really need to step away from baby duties!

Outsource if you can afford. Maybe get a cleaner to reduce that burden on you or a nanny of you need to step out for self care You've got this mama ❤

I do housework and run errands with baby, she loves it 😊 She watches me and is so curious, I interact with her while I do it. Getting into a feeding and nap routine was also a lifesaver! Obvs it can change but good to have an idea of what the day will look like.

I just have a smaller home and 2 teenagers to help with chores and the toddler. Me and my partner both work full time but different hours so he’s pretty good at helping keep the house work done too.

I have a daily routine of cleaning for our home. Our home is broken down into 4-5 zones. Each week begins a new zone. I have a list of things that needs done in each zone. Each day I give about 15 minutes to that zone. By the end of the week that zone is completely done. I also do a 5 minute swish and swipe of each bathroom before bed. It’s just a simple tide and wipe down of the bathroom if it needs it. Nothing worse than getting sick in the middle of the night with a dirty toilet. It’s a modified version of the Fly Lady Method. Her method does have a free app. I simply used Canva and made weekly calendars that are interchangeable. I’ve laminated them and use a dry erase marker to keep track of the weekly plans and cleaning tasks.

I get it house work needs to be done or appointment but I feel like mental health is more important so take a day and do something for yourself and that stuff can get done the next day . I have had to learn that through the years .
