Benefits for working parents

Hi all, not trying to be cheeky, as I am very thankful that both my partner and I are in a position of work. Just wondering what there is to help out working parents when they have a child, if there’s any extra money or benefits we’re entitled to before or after the child is born?

In the same position, I think only child benefit when the child is born? Plus the funded childcare hours when you go back to work x

You’d be best talking to citizens advice, might be entitled to stuff once baby here/ on Mat leave but it could be means tested x

From what I believe and checked via the Turn2Us calculator - while working before baby is here I am not entitled to anything, after baby is here only child benefit until I go onto SMP (as I get paid enhanced maternity) then I’ll get UC for the months I ain’t on a full wage. As Josie said could also be means tested and also depending on whether you live with your partner etc - then things would also differ - try out that Turn2Us calculator though! X

Child benefit if no one is earning over £60,000 and free childcare hours if no one is earning over £100,000. You can do a calculator on the government website to see what you are entitled to x
