HSLDA is a great resource
I'm not too sure what state you're in but in SC they give you options of how to homeschool and they are very lenient. Also not sure what grade your kids are in. Hope you find the information you need.

Depends on what state youre in but most states don’t require registration labeling your family as homeschooling unless your children were previously enrolled within the school system in general But if you start out home schooling & never enroll with any formal schooling you don’t need to register as anything in the majority of states
You still teach English, science, social studies, etc, but you also incorporate life skills. Homeschooling on your flexibility. Join local groups and follow activities. If your kid is enrolled in a school, you will have to write a letter to the school notifying withdrawal and intent of homeschooling. If your kid isn't enrolled, you don't do anything but just follow what your state's requirements are.
