I couldn't stomach pregnacare at all. Definitely a correlation between taking it and the intensity of sickness - any brand of Folic Acid + a Vitamin D tablet will cover you fine. That's what I was taking for ages! Feel better soon x
Thank you both, will try that
They absolutely make HG symptoms worse, especially anything that contains iron. In Australia it’s recommended to takr folic acid, vitamin D, and iodine, so I’d take iodine as well unless you have a decent amount of it in your diet already
I couldn’t take any vitamins when I was in the hell of my HG so I constantly was hoping baby would be ok but my baby is completely fine in all his scans if you can take them then take them but I would be throwing mine back up within seconds of taking them I tried gummies and they would also come back up and I know everyone says it gets better but it does but not at the same time for everyone I only started to get better after having to have steroids to help me as I lost weight to the point where the doctors finally agreed that it was me that needed more help rather than just saying baby is fine so only take this and that and baby’s taking what it needs off you which was obvious anyway it just takes time so give yourself some slack it’s a very hard thing to get through that people don’t understand not even doctors understand it because all they can do is give us anti sickness meds
Pregnacare made me feel sick as well.. switched to shops own brand and felt better
Hi! I had a hard time finding vitamins that wouldn’t make me sick (even before pregnancy!), turns out fish oil can cause a lot of nausea, headaches and general discomfort to some people (like me), so I found these pills that had no fish oil in them and I was able to take them before pregnancy and then again after the meds worked for the HG. (I’ll try to find a pic of them, got them in Smith’s supermarket in USA) Good luck!
Pregnacare is a low quality supplement as it has the synthetic form of many nutrients, contains a cheap form of iron at a high dose which can lead to constipation and nausea, contains many binders / fillers which you want to avoid and finally it’s missing some key nutrients (or those it does include is in low doses). I did a lot of research on this and I’d recommend taking Proceive, which has the active form of many vitamins (e.g. Methylfolate which is the active form of Folic Acid and better absorbed by the body). There’s a pre conception pack along with trimester packs to suit your body’s varying vitamin needs. I’d take it along with Nordic Naturals pre natal DHA.
Boots sell pregnancy tablets which are just folic acid and vitamin d, I find them much easier to take.
