Exercise

How do you all fit in time to exercise? I’m now back to work and so it’s a full time job with the kid before and after work and then 8-5:30 work day. He goes to bed between 7:30 and 8pm so I guess I could after that but usually I’m either logging back into work or enjoying the tiny bit of down time I get in a day - idk how to motivate myself to workout during that time 😩

Use baby with your exercise. Tummy time = pushups, sit ups, or any other floor exercises. Put baby in swing or bouncer and do squats and lunges. You can even use baby for arm exercises depending on how comfortable you are lifting and moving baby around

Try dance workouts for 30 minutes, there are a bunch on YouTube. They are enjoyable and you’ll be motivated once you start dancing.

Try starting with light walks and work your way up. Give yourself some grace, you don’t have to do a whole workout to get back in to start

Take baby for an evening walk after dinner. Make it part of the bedtime routine. Walk for 30 mins around your neighborhood while drinking a full bottle of water and you will be amazed how good you feel and how much it helps you physically and helps baby. You will probably both sleep better too. Otherwise, I used to get up at like 6am to go to a yoga class before my husband and daughter woke up. I'd feed her one last time then put her back to bed and head out. It was 7-745 at the clubhouse in my neighborhood like 5 mins away, so I'd be home in time to log on for my morning meeting at work at 8. But most studios have earlier classes than that if you need to commute to work too. Or you can drop baby off at daycare an hour earlier and go to a class/gym on the way to work. The one I put my daughter in at 1 yo opened at 6 or 630am I think so I could have easily taken her early and gone to a class, but shortly after she started I got pregnant again and it was a rough one.

This is much harder with my son now because he has bad reflux and gets uncomfortable in the morning so doesnt sleep well unless I bring him into bed for sidelying nursing. I also lost my job while pregnant so I have my toddler at home now too and I take all the extra sleep I can get before she wakes up 😂 chasing her around is a great work out.

I suffered postpartum heart failure so I was told it’s kinda imperative that I workout so I can be around for my son. I realize that’s way more reason for motivation than usual. With that said, I found it easiest to break up muscle training into 5 minute increments. Then I do light cardio like a walk or aerobics every other day and a spin bike workout more intensely every other day that I don’t do light cardio. The 5 minute muscle training did make the muscle training maintainable.

I'm hoping to do more when this heat wave passes. Currently my exercise is rocking her to sleep 10 times a day and dancing for her entertainment sometimes when she's fussy
