Getting back core strength

i'm 8 weeks PP and have literally no core strength whatsoever! my boyfriend always laughs at me when i get in and out of bed because it's far from graceful 😂 i can walk about just fine and have been able to leave the house since being a week PP but i have no strength in my core. even just there now i had my baby in my arms and tried to sit up but i couldn't! i had to wake up my boyfriend to pull me up... it's just such an inconvenience! i've just signed up for a gym nearby, but i swear i won't even be able to work on my core for a couple of weeks anyway? i've googled that it's just a bit too risky

You’re only 8 weeks post major surgery, having 7 layers of abdominal tissue cut open and a dinner plate size wound inside you! Don’t push yourself, it took me a good 12 weeks maybe even longer to be able to do more like sitting up unaided etc, I had to teddy bear role much to my partners amusement. We’re all different and I had an awful recovery but bare in mind doing to much now will only take you longer to recover or you could do more damage, I’m now 4 months pp today and can sit up from laying back with baby on me and get up with him and he’s a big lump😂 X

If you can, I highly recommend going to a physiotherapist who specializes in postnatal. They will give you exercises to reconnect your pelvic floor with your inner core which are safe to do at this point in your recovery.

Don't worry girl your body needs much more time. I couldn't sit up like that normally till month three I think. You only have a few weeks guaranteed. I'm 4 months pp over here and finally able to do lightweight core stuff without pain. I also dealt w infection too. It's okay to be weak at first, you underwent major surgery and your ab muscles were severely damaged. I know it's so hard to not want to be right back where you used to be, but at the end of this you'll come out even stronger!! We are warriors dude 💖💖 just try to be patient with yourself :)
