Hi, question about vitamin d drops! My little guy is 6weeks old and our pediatrician put him on these vitamin d drops, since we are breastfeeding. I'm just a bit confused on the dosing. The pediatrician (& the box) says 1ml/daily. The 1ml on the dropper seems like a very large amount🤔 Is this correct? Or do I only give him a drop? Has anyone used this exact brand, and can share?

I don't use that brand but if it says 1ml, it's 1ml. I've used 3 brands at this point - one was just one drop, another was 2 and the last was 4 drops daily. Maybe you could get a different brand to use now, and save that one for when he's on solids? It's much easier to get in a larger quantity then!

I used Enfamil vitamin D, and I believe I followed the dosage on the box. However, I don't recommend this brand because my baby started throwing up frequently, and she stopped when we switched brands. I switched to Zarbees, and the problem went away. It could have just been something specific to my child, but I don't know.

I use this brand my this is my second time both my girls did good I can mix it with their milk or supplement by itself.

My baby HATED these. Then I found out that if mama takes 6000IUs off vitamin D, baby gets what they need from the breastmilk, so that's what we do now. Just wanted to share in case you would rather do that 😊

@Aisling thank you! Good to know some brands are completing diff dosing/drops.

@Naomi wow! Sorry that happened with your baby! Thanks for sharing and I will keep this in mind

@Denisse ahh okay! So did you give the full 1ml with the dropper thing? It seems like such a large quantity.

@Kenedi that's real helpful, thank you! How do you get the full 6000? Vitamins? Did you have any adverse reactions to taking that much?

@Ash yes I do, neither one of my babies spit up their milk so I never had a problem, my oldest took both breast and formula, my 7 week old is exclusively breastfeed

@Ash you're welcome! Yes, I take vitamins. I don't have insurance so it was cheaper for me to buy over the counter, but your doctor or OB or maybe even pediatrician can prescribe better ones if you have prescription coverage or want to pay for them 😅 I haven't noticed any side effects. Actually, when I'm cranky my husband asks me if I forgot to take my sunshine pill, and usually he's right 😂

I take vitamin d as well instead of giving my baby the drops. (I also take salmon fish oil, vitamin b12, and a prenatal.) I want to add in choline.
