Gym anxiety

I really want to join the gym but I’m so anxious about it. I don’t have a “gym” body especially since giving birth and I’ve never been to a gym before. I don’t know how to use anything! I would ask for a pt but the only time I can go is really late evening when dinner is made and partner is home from work to look after lo and I see pt don’t work till late. Any advice or links I can use for what to do as the gym for beginners?

Evolve app is excellent as it gives you routines. But I think you must know how to use machines and correctly position the exercises to prevent any lesions.

Any decent gym will give you an induction and show you how to use everything when you sign up, and they can even develop a workout plan for you. Every body is a gym body, you just have to go to the gym 😉 no, but seriously, don’t worry about it…no one pays attention to other people when they’re at the gym, they have their headphones in. If it will make you feel better, go for it! 🧡

It can be daunting trying something you haven’t done before but gyms are full of members with different body types. Everybody and every body can work out ☺️. All gyms let you look around before you sign up, so it’s worth visiting to check if it’s somewhere you feel comfortable, maybe look at a couple. If you ask when you sign up a PT will provide an induction to show you how to use the machines and a lot have staff present in the gym so you can always ask for help. I’ve also found people in the gym very supportive if you don’t know how to use something- everyone started in the same place as you! X
