Ashwagandha and magnesium for stress

Hi! I’m 17 weeks PP and sometimes the stress and anxiety gets to me worse than before baby. I’ve been reading that ashwagandha and magnesium are good supplements to ease stress and promote relaxation. Anyone taking these already or have other recommendations?

I started taking magnesium pretty soon after birth as I had read it helped to balance hormones out. I started ashwaghanda I think a few months later. I suffered with pp rage bad the first few week, but then it balanced out. I didn’t have baby blues or stress or anxiety at all so I do think they help x

I would like some clarity on ashwaghanda too if anyone can help, I read that its good for post partum but when I went to buy some it said not suitable for breastfeeding, can anyone shed any light?

@Yasmin I think they really recommend you don’t take it when pregnant especially, breastfeeding they urge you not to. it was one of the reasons I didn’t start it as soon as I gave birth. From what my doctor said the research isn’t there to say if it’s safe or not, they don’t know the levels that pass to baby or if the affects it has on your hormones would be safe for baby either x

I take magnesium and L-theanine

Ashwagandha should be avoided if your breastfeeding, if your not breastfeeding then its fine to take. I take two gummies of it everyday and have found my mood has improved, also iron really helps especially PP

Magnesium did wonders for me, especially when I was finding it hard to sleep!

Be careful with ashwaganda it’s a masculine herb and some women have harsh affects from it especially if you already have issues with your cycle…Shatavari is the female version of the herb and helps with stress… also look into motherwort

Magnesium been amazing though will always recommend

Shatavari helps with milk flow as well while you shouldn’t take ashwaganda while breastfeeding

Magnesium DEFINITELY helps take the edge off- and I was actually using it pre PP. I know that I need it whenever I start to feel panicked/ anxious for no reason. So I'd definitely recommend it 👍
