RUNNING

Before finding out I was pregnant, I used to go on lots of runs! I’m really thinking about starting to go for a few slow runs but just wondering others experiences running while pregnant?

Hey Phoebe, I'm not a long distance but I used to do 5km runs once a week or once every 2 weeks. I went on 2/3 runs since finding out I was pregnant and ran 200m and 400m as part of workout classes. I'd say give it a go if your gp/midwife has said you're not high risk and you've been feeling good enough. Last time I went for a long run when I was just under 10 weeks, after 2.5km I felt some pressure down there (back side 🫣) and had to stop, it wasn't painful but just quite uncomfortable. I have spoken to my midwife and she said it was likely my uterus getting heavier and just putting pressure. I'm planning to try again. Just run slow, make sure you can still hold a conversation while running and see how you feel? I know some pregnant mums who had kept the running and felt good enough. 😊 Enjoy!

I ran whilst pregnant with baby 1. Did 5km park runs every weekend and a few lunchtime jogs. If it’s your usual workout level, it’s safe to do whilst pregnant. It’s taking up new exercises like weights etc (if you’ve not been a regular lifter) that’s advised against.

I’m still running whilst pregnant (currently 13 weeks) Iv always long distances as Iv done a couple of marathons. Iv been trying to run 2-3 weeks still but am just doing 5k. I will try to run as long as I can but I know the bigger I get it will be a lot harder x

I ran up until 2 days before my due date with my first but I have not been feeling great so I have been doing 2 runs a week and reformer pilates. Just go on how you feel on the day, I always find after a run I feel so much better.

@Laura that's so inspiring! I know another mum who did exactly the same, I was in awe! Well done for still getting 2 runs a week and pilates despite not feeling the best! 💪🏼
