Anybody here ever burn food or plates when trying to cook and this is exactly why I don't cook anything unless it's something like noodles (pic for context) happened this morning

I don't understand what happened to that plate?
@Zara I was trying to make pumpkin pancakes, burnt the pancake and accidentally set the hot skillet on the plate not knowing it was still really hot when I thought it wasn't
