Am I the only one

I’m 10 months into maternity leave and I’m so lonely. Everyone else on mat leave seems to be spending their days going for coffee, play dates etc and I seem to only meet people twice a week for baby classes. I’m totally dreading going back to work in august but at the same time I can’t wait to have some adult conversation again. I thought I had more friends than I do, obviously. I feel so down all the time.

Hey lovely, where are you based? Xx

You’re not alone! We haven’t even been making the baby classes as everything is on at the times he naps 😩 it’s very lonely, especially when you don’t have other mum friends

You're not alone, when i was planning my maternity leave I thought I'd be busy all the time and be really sociable. But nearly 10 months in it's been nothing like I thought it would x

@Zoe Same as you Zoe! I’ve put it off due to they are around naps, but on Monday I decided to go for it, luckily the class was a 5 min walk so I walked there and he was fine and I had a long walk after for him to have his nap then instead, it worked out fine in the end and I felt better about it x

I think it’s incredibly difficult sometimes going days not having adult conversation and putting little ones needs before our own. There is a website called The Mum Club, it’s free to sign up but then there are local clubs that do paid for events, picnics, brunches, coffee mornings, walking clubs, there could be one near you? I’ve been to a few events and they have been fun and easy to talk to people.

Nobody tells you that maternity leave can be one of the most lonely and boring times. It’s very common trust me. I felt so drained of energy with my little one to keep her entertained and meet all her needs and make food and take care of my hygiene, keep the house clean etc. without any help as my husband went to work all day. After that I didn’t have the energy or time to get ready and go out to socialise. When I joined back work, it was refreshing.
