Pregnancy Vitamins without Folic Acid??

I’ve been prescribed a higher dose of Folic Acid due to my family history, but this now means I can’t take my Pregnacare vitamins because they already have folic acid in and that would be too much. Has anyone heard of a pregnancy vitamin without it? Can’t find one anywhere! Pharmacy suggested just taking a vitamin D tablet + folic acid but I’m worried this isn’t enough… I’d be missing out on everything else they have…anyone else been in the same position?

I’m prescribed folic acid, and I only take folic acid vitamin d and iron That’s all you need I’ve checked with doctors & pharmacist

Like the above, I’d take your specific folic acid & vitamin D (they are the only essential ones). However Omega3 is highly recommended! As well as selenium and iron if low. Otherwise maybe a general multi-vitamin that doesn’t have folic acid.

Thank you!

I did that last time and took everything separately but my midwife said i can take the higher dose and the pregnancy vitamins. Maybe check with them to see what they say.

I’m on the higher amount of folic acid as well, I was told that I can still take pregnancy vitamins as the amount in them really won’t cause an issue on top of your prescribed amount. If you’re not sure or worried, I’m sure a pharmacist will be able to put your mind at ease.

Thanks all, I think the frustrating thing for me is my doctor / pharmacist / internet are all saying different things so it’s hard to know what to do! ☺️

I’m prescribed folic acid 5mg… I also take pregnacare. I took it all the way through my first pregnancy and was fine. I don’t think you can have ‘too much’ folic acid xx
