Prenatal vitamins

I literally have taken my prenatals like 8 times in the last 17 weeks simply because i forget. I’m so anxious about that, so I’m wondering how or if it’ll effect the baby?

I took NO prenatals! And my baby is healthy, and delivery was easy!

As long as you are getting nutrients a different way baby will be fine. I haven’t been able to take any since 10 weeks because they make me sick. I’m 24 weeks now and my midwife isn’t concerned.

I m 17 weeks pregnant and I’ve taken my prenatals hardly 2-3 times because I can’t digest them I tried switching the brand and flavor but still none of these are working for me I asked my doctor she prescribed me another vitamins and she said these might work but honestly idk what to do because these are now another 300$ vitamins and I already have 5-6 bottles of prenatal gummies and tablets which gives me vomit 🤮

I pretty much never take them and my baby is healthy

Every time I worry about stuff like this I think of my mom, who found out she was pregnant at the doctors office after being told she could never have kids, then the next time she went to the Dr was to deliver me. Meanwhile eating whatever, no prenatals, no Drs visits, etc. and I came out fine. Granted this was in the village in Ukraine so care was not as standard as it is here, so I'm still a huge advocate for seeing the Dr and getting the necessary ultrasounds, but it gives me comfort knowing what my mom went through. I take my prenatals every night but if I didn't bc they hurt or made me sick I wouldn't feel bad :) just eat good food

I think the prenatal vitamins are more for you and less for the baby! The baby will take what it needs from your body - but that could leave you depleted of certain vitamins and nutrients. It’s not life threatening but definitely may make you feel worse in a couple of a years. I used to get yelled at all the time by my regular doctor for not taking my postnatal vitamins after birth because I was breastfeeding and the same thing applies. I would just try to take them when you remember and/or try setting an alarm on your phone to remind you! It’s important to take care of you too, mama.

I’m the same way. I was like that my first pregnancy too and she came out perfectly healthy 🥰 this time around I’ve been even worse about it and it definitely makes me feel bad but I know he’s going to be just fine

I agree with victorias comment, prenatals are more for the mother, I put mine next to my coffee machine so I don’t forget 😊

I’ve heard several women from Europe say that doctors there tell them prenatal vitamins are unnecessary because you get the nutrients from food. Doctors here don’t say that because the American diet is generally not as healthy as the European diet. We tend to eat more processed foods and empty calories. If you’re eating healthy (a wide variety of lots of fresh foods) then you’re probably fine. If you’re eating junk, then you may want to set an alarm on your phone or something to help remember to take the vitamins.
