Thretened miscarriage

I hope this post is okay I just come back from the doctors . I went to see my gp due to having sharp pains in my side and in my shoulder now and again and they mentioned a threatened miscarriage but I haven’t had any bleeding at all . Can you have a threatened miscarriage without bleeding ?

Your symptoms sound ectopic. Only because of the shoulder. They need to test hCG and progesterone. If they didn’t do an ultrasound … that’s very concerning they’d say that without checking.

@Ayyah they said because I’m still early I’m only 4 weeks they said unlikely it’s ectopic at this point should I phone gp again today and push for blood test ?

Definitely push for blood work. It won’t rule out ectopic but atleast telll you if the hCG is increasing.

I’m surprised they’re throwing out terms like threatened miscarriage this early on without even taking a look at bloodwork at the very least. 4 weeks is so early and symptom spotting isn’t good information to go off of to make a diagnosis like that and freak a patient out. I’m so sorry you’re going through this with your providers.

@Elise no testing at all really they gave me a blood test yesterday and my hcg levels is 164.9 but haven’t heard anything from that no next steps or anything x

Sounds ectopic- push for a scan (internal one) x

@Hayley my gp said I’m to early for it to be ectopic I’m 4 weeks today should I still push for one ? Xx

No such thing as too early for ectopic, it implants that way, it doesn’t evolve into ectopic over time

@Rebecca I think I’ll Ring up tomorrow or Monday and push for a scan or something then as that’s what my gp that I saw told me she wasn’t really listening to what I had to say x

Yeah I agree with above, your dr is chatting shit, it’s where it implants so definitely not too early, my sister was fobbed off like this and had to have emergency surgery at 9 weeks and lost her right tube x
