HAYFEVER šŸ¤§

Iā€™ve struggled with horrific hayfever my whole life, to the point of usually having prescription everything - antihistamines (fexofenadine), nasal spray, eye drops and blue inhaler! It makes things pretty miserable. I asked for advice on what I could take during pregnancy from my GP, who werenā€™t particularly helpful. They essentially said ā€œavoid taking them if you donā€™t need them, but if you do really need them then probably take themā€ā€¦ Looking online it seems like loratadine is most recommended during pregnancy. Has anyone had any experiences taking this so far? It never used to work for my symptoms but Iā€™m willing to try anything as I canā€™t work or sleep with how bad I am currently! šŸŒ¼

I had a presciption from GP for hayfever tablets that are safe to take during pregnancyI will see if I can find the name of it for you

You can buy them without prescription also but becuase my pharmacist wasnā€™t sure what they can give me advised to get a prescription from GP

Itā€™s called Cetirizine they helped me

Good luck to you x

The problem is nothing has been tested in pregnancy due to ethics. The most they can say is its not known to cause issues but 99.9% of manufacturers put not recommended in pregnancy on the meds just incase. Youd be best speaking to an obstetric doctor to see what they recommend, ask your midwife if they can discuss it if your not consultant led or if they can find out for you

I am the same!! šŸ˜« I have been fine so far during pregnancy, however my hayfever symptoms were really bad this weekend! Iā€™m messaged my midwife and they have recommended eye drops for itchy eyes, inhaling with steam for blocked noses and paracetamol. They have said I will need to see a GP to get anything stronger! Pre-pregnancy the only thing that worked was fexofenadine! I am going to try get an appointment with doctor to see if they can help! I am all ears for any tips!! šŸ‘‚šŸ¼

Iā€™m also a fellow sufferer of hayfever šŸ˜ fexofenadine was my relief for years! Iā€™m trying as many natural remedies as possible - eating locally made honey, and vaseline around your nostrils to trap pollen before it goes up your nose. You can also buy hayfever relief wipes x

As a teacher, this is honestly a nightmare. I can barely see for my eyes watering. I am really struggling. Looks like we are all allergic to grass pollen! Waiting to speak to the doctor.

Try an air purifier, and get inside in air con where you can!! X

Beconase nasal spray has been a game changer for me. Doctor said itā€™s fine to take.

Just wondering if your under a consultant? I am and where I have chronic hayfever they okayd me to have the hayfever injectionā€¦ itā€™s not recommended in pregnancy but my consultant was happy to do it saying the benefits out weighs the risks as I have other complications which is being effected by the hayfever, just thinking if you were as bad as me and really couldnā€™t step out the house! Luckily down for imunatheropy but couldnā€™t start it this year as I was already pregnant šŸ™ˆ My only tips which I was hot on doing before is washing your hair before bed every night, washing bedding and tumbledrying every other day, allergy humidifier next to me in bed every night and making sure you donā€™t dry your clothes outside x
