Antihistamines

Does anyone know if I can take Loratadine? I Google it and that’s what’s it suggests in pregnancy but I bought a box and on the box it says not to take if pregnant? Thanks

My doctor said i can, but would double check with midwife

Check with your gp. Some make you drowsy ect. I know chlorophenamine/ piriton they generally use for pregnancy if a bad itch occurs ect, but my midwife said to check with GP always

Both my midwife and GP said no antihistamines are safe in pregnancy so I’ve been prescribed with a nasal spray, eye drops and a cream to help with any of my symptoms. GP was really good so worth going to them

@Louise how peculiar as I was told nasal sprays aren’t safe as they vasal constrict and there’s no evidence as to if they constrict anything with the placenta ect. So many mixed opinions isn’t there x

Yea, I also had to get a green light on Loratadine from obstetrician vs GP. Nasal spray they make a saline only version, which is what i use. But tbh, pregnancy seems to mean Loratadine barely working 🙈
