@Jaclyn thx girl 👍🏽

Avocado and coconut oil

@Emera yes I also heard the same but never did the whole investigation. Thx so much this is helpful. Thx everyone for your input much appreciated will get avocado oil this weekend

@Kima uh. Where did you hear this? Olive oil, or at least quality extra virgin olive oil, is one of the healthiest fats out there and is actually resistant to overheating. It also doesn't oxidize or go rancid during cooking the way some oils do.

@Kima .... Okay. Seems false to me.

Interesting. I can say, as a food scientist that while he may prefer not to use it (that's his preference)! There's no evidence to suggest it shouldn't be heated. It actually holds together remarkably well and much better than canola or seed oil. He's certainly entitled to his preference though, lol. Some people just don't like the strong flavor.

@Emera this is technically true, but it is also highly resistant to heating. When people talk about smoke points, you'll hear buzzwords like "free radicals" and oxidation, but in fact both refined and extra virgin olive oil hold together very well and release fewer volatile compounds when cooking at higher temperatures. https://pubmed.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/15291498/ here's a study on the subject if you are curious! 😄

Yes, you don't want free radicals but the point here is that both refined and unrefined olive oil produce LESS free radicals (volatile compounds) under high temperatures. Smoke points aren't the entire picture, although I will say that refined olive oil is more commonly used for heating where unrefined tends to be used more for salad dressings, so that may be where the misconception comes from. I like both avo and olive oil, and can promise it's safe to cook with, but to each their own 🤷

@Emera of course! Just clearing up misinformation. 😄

Thanks everyone 🙏🏽🤗 everyone has good point so I’ll just go with avocado oil But I agree grape seed oil give my food good taste 💕✌️

Avocado oil

Or if I got enough beef fat ,bacon fat,

I use avocado oil

@Kima Olive oil can absolutely be heated up. It just has a lower smoke point, so if you start to burn the oil to the point of smoke it becomes unhealthy. It would take leaving and forgetting about your food for it to get to this point though! Avocado oil has one of the highest smoke points and is therefore very good to cook with at high temperatures. Seed oils are the unhealthiest oils to use and classed as a UPF unless you have specifically bought cold pressed.
