Thalassemia
I was told by my hematologist that i havw thalassemia, after having my son i experienced a great loss of blood and blood clots for about 3
Months in the beginning of the month i would have a very bloody “period”. 1 month after birth and every month for 3 months. Since December of 2022 I’ve been on the depo shot. Does anyone have this disorder or/and has been on the depo shot for it.

@Cecilia Ibarra yes I have 2 daughters. They both have the gene for Alpha thalassemia but their pediatrician said it’s not a concern. I believe it’s only a concern if both parents have the gene and the gene aggressive. But overall I believe it’s nothing to be scared about.
I have Alpha Thalassemia as well. And currently 14w5d. Was also told nothing to worry about since dad doesn’t have it, but that I will pass it on to my offsprings.

Hi! I have Alpha thalassemia. My OBGYN/midwife said it’s nothing to be concerned about. I have heavy bleeding during my periods but was told that it has nothing to do with thalassemia. The heavy bleeding after birth was probably just your period going back to normal. I’m not on the depo but I am on the IUD which overall stopped me from having a period.
