HcG levels

Hi! I’m just looking for some good news. I’m 5 weeks, I found out on 05/22 and since then I’ve been taking a test every morning because I had a miscarriage is February so this helps my peace of mind. I attached a photo of 2 tests taken on different days, the line looks just as dark to me. I’m getting worried that I’m showing early signs of miscarriage again. Has anyone experienced this and had a healthy pregnancy/does this line look normal for 5 weeks?

The one in the comments is from this morning and the one attached to the post is from yesterday

The picture in the comments does look darker. But hcg doubles every 2 days so compare test that are 2 days apart!

Of course! I’m about 5 weeks also. I’ve been going and getting my blood drawn every 48 hours for a week just to make sure my levels double. Have you made an appointment?

@Brittany I have! They couldn’t get me in until June 17th at 8 weeks. It’s just so far out and my anxiety is killing me!!

I completely understand I have major anxiety too, I had a miscarriage in march, and I have been freaking out. Usually you can call and just ask to have lab work done to see your hcg and pdg levels it definitely eases my mind!

@Brittany I called and scheduled a blood test as soon as you mentioned it! They were able to get me in this afternoon. Thank you for the advice!!

Once your HCG reaches a certain higher level (depending on the strips), your test line will start to become lighter because the amount of HCG is so much that it starts overwhelming the test. It’s call the hook effect. If you dilute your first morning urine (1:5-1:10 dilution with water) or use a mid day urine sample that’s more dilute, you will notice the line is darker.

@Jemima for me, I had extremely bad cramps, followed by light spotting, and my test line got lighter. Which turned into such a heavy flow my OB tested me for anemia. I went into my Dr today and got blood drawn just to be safe

@Bre I read this!! My afternoon/evening urine gives me a WAY darker line for whatever reason. I’m not too far along so I would be very surprised if it were the hook effect. Twins do run in my family though

@Laurel yes!! The stress can be so overwhelming, I just want to test 20 times a day to make sure the line is still there 😂😂. I also have all the symptoms and feel pregnant but my brain is a hater lol!!

Hook effect for me this time started around 5.5wks so it definitely could be that and that would make sense since a more dilute sample is giving you a darker line.

@Bre that definitely makes me feel better.. I’ll be getting my blood results back in the morning and hopefully everything is good and I’m just overthinking!! Thank you for everything 🩷

@Bre wow I did not know this, I would wonder why my pregmate test were darker in the evening when I was getting dye stealers on the first response using FMU

@Lee G yup! It’s cool but freaky 😅
