Running.

Hey all. Those who run… I really want to get into running, but I have no idea how or where to start. I am so unfit and at my highest weight I have ever been, I’m not happy with myself. I don’t want to join or commit to any groups. I think I’d rather go on my own where I can just put music on and go at my own pace. Any advice would be appreciated x

I used to run and I was very overweight I started off for a little workout to loosen my muscles, then I make a length I would run to in a slow pace stop and then kept doing that on and off but gradually picked it up more, I lost 2 stone in 3 month but I also turned vegan for a while x

I did 2 plymouth half marathons before my 12 year old was born and really want to get back into it but I haven't ran for years 🤦‍♀️ I just don't have the motivation when I'm on my own, I need a running partner because if I make that commitment I'm less likely to make excuses 🤣 x

Download the NHS couch to 5K app. Builds up running slowly and safely :)

I definitely recommend couch to 5k, I did it a few years ago. I was not a runner at all, couldn’t run for the bus without being out of breath and since doing couch to 5k I’ve managed to run a few 10ks and got very comfortable running a 5k. I’m only a couple weeks postpartum but am going to do it again when I’m recovered and ready to get my stamina back.

Thank you for the tips ❤️

Let me know if you fancy some company on a run 😊 x

I would second couch to 5k to get you started. Also google “My Health Devon return to running guidelines” this gives some good tips on exercises to build up your strength and get you running postpartum 😊
