Contact with work
I'm not due to return to work until November. That is what I said before I left anyway. But I was wondering does anyone get updates from their work, hr or managers while you are away.
I know from 2 of my closest co-workers that there have been alot of changes and we have a new manager, but it was mainly gossip/chat. I've not had any formal contact with company, my team leader or new manager.
With my first baby I was with a different company and they were more friendly and I was in touch with my manager who kept me up to date and checked i was ok. It made me feel more welcome to come back but with this new company I feel like I have been forgotten and could easily be replaced. It makes me feel more reluctant go back and I'd rather start new somewhere else. Is that the norm, was I just lucky before to have a nice manager?
Its really hard to pitch this and honestly I think many managers are petrified of giving you info you dont want to hear and being accused of harassment etc when you are on protective leave- personally I asked for no business updates, my boss and I will text pleasantries every few months and thats enough for me as well as the odd text or coffee with colleagues who are friends. I would reach out to your boss and explain you are starting to think about your return to work even though its a while away and would love to be kept in the loop. You could also do some KIT days to find out whats been happening?
