Leaving baby with others.

Just left my babies to go to hen do up London. 😭 I feel like crying. My husband has his mum and brother round with the 2 cousins to occupy our toddler daughter so lots of people to look after them but feeling the emotions. EBF so having to take my pump with me, to pump and dump. I won't be back until 7pm. I'm the only one that has young children so feeling a bit lonely and apprehensive.

Awww I really feel for you, I have to do this in June for my best friend's hen do (overnight as well 😬) and I'm soo anxious about it so I totally get how emotional you must be feeling. EBF too and I've never left him more than an hour so far 🙈 Your LO will be fine though. My mum keeps telling me about when my brother was a baby and she ended up in hospital so my dad just had to take over feeding etc and they were all absolutely fine! I know it's easier said than done but try and enjoy some 'free' time as we rarely get it these days!! X

Yes, I'm sure he will be fine. Ive been trying to practice bottle with him for a month but he only ever took 30ml each time but I'm sure that's because I was still around. He will probably be super upset once he realises I'm not there.

I'm also anxious about having to find time to pump & dump and I'm scared I will start leaking. It's been 2 hrs already since I last feed him but another 2 hrs until I get to the first venue where I will be able to relax. Not really practical to pump on the train or tube when your on your own. 😬

I'm in the same boat re bottle feeding, my little man hates it and has only ever taken minimal from a bottle, I'm currently trying him with a cup and hoping with a bit of practice he might be able to have his milk like that when I go away. It's so hard feeling completely responsible for feeding them and having them so reliant on us. I'm sure he'll be upset initially but hopefully will settle for your partner and you can give him extra cuddles (and milk) when you get back. The pumping thing is really tricky, especially being on public transport, I'm also worrying about that so any advice afterwards about how you managed would be greatly appreciated. I hope you're not too uncomfortable...worst case scenario you might have to hand express a bit in the toilets 🙈😭

Urgh I managed to pump 30ml in a pub toilet, it felt horrible. Grad I didn't leak now heading home. Hopefully little one will be asleep and I can do a larger pump before bed.

I had lovely update to say little man had taken 120ml and a good sleep. I just know he will probably be up alot during the night and expecting him to be extra clingy tomorrow. But at least I know he can do it so t better prepared for the actual wedding next month.

Awww well done though, you did it and you both got through it 💪🏼 pumping in the pub toilet doesn't sound fun but at least you didn't have any leaks. I'm sure you'll almost be glad to feed him all through the night tonight (even though I'm sure you're knackered). Loads of extra cuddles for both of you tomorrow! X

What pump do you have? I went on a night out and pumped in the bar and then walking to next place. Just emptied into a bag in toilets so I could swill and not get sticky milk everywhere! I use the momcozy one

Good for you going out and doing something for you. A dash of separation here and there is healthy for everyone. Hopefully it will also highlight to your husband the important contribution you actually provide. You go let your hair down and go have fun girl.

Glad I did it as I now have more faith in my husband, my baby and my body. Yes, baby was up a lot in the night but worth it and we can all have a lazy Sunday in.

@Claire I just took a manual lansinoh, not the most effective. I do have their electric one which I can connect to a battery pack so I will probably use that for the wedding, be better prepared and given myself more time. I use lansinoh because I need extra small funnel 16mm.
