@Jade, aww, so glad for your message, and I'm not alone. I just feel so worried, though. we saw cousins today, which are a tiny bit older that are saying a bit more, and it just made me think. I just worry all the time. Have you spoken with a health visitor about this? Shall I? I just don't know? I even got some cards with words and pictures to help, which did help, as he can now point to what is what and he is such a quick learner but I just fear something is wrong. He has to tongue tie and they told me from birth that it won't affect his speech and now I'm scared it has xxx
I've actually spoke to a pediatrician about it and she said they're really not worried until around 2½ although when you have your 2 year old check with your health visitor if they are still not really talking they can be referred to a speech and language therapist, I'm not actually too worried as I didn't speak till I was 3½ and my little girl has taken after me with so much developmental wise that I just think this is another thing but I will definitely try and speech and language therapy if it's offered to me. I would however double check with the tounge tie, I know sometimes if it doesn't get cut it can cause problems but not too sure as my little girl never had one xx
My little girl isn't saying any words yet and has very little understanding, she took her first steps at 9 months and was walking properly by 10 months, I think sometimes they focus all their energy into one skill and then kinda neglect the other, I wouldn't be too worried especially as he has the understanding and he is saying a few words, he'll most likely jump straight into saying a few words at a time as its all in his brain he just can't get it out yet x
