Irritable Uterus

Officially 30 weeks today !! So here I am thinking I have been having Braxton Hicks contractions and come to find out I have an irritated uterus. So yesterday I was having a good bit of contractions but not consistent enough for labor. I called my OB ,because it was more than 4 in an hour and that’s when they recommended me to call in, and they asked me to go into L&D. I went and when I got there I felt fine. They hooked me up to the monitors checked to see if I was dilated and to my surprise I was having big irregular contractions. Luckily they weren’t changing my cervix and my FFN test came back negative but still it was pretty concerning. So they kept me for 4 hours gave me a round of shots to stop the contractions and when they felt it was under control let me go home. Has anyone else experienced this before ?

Preterm labor every pregnancy here .. stay stress free , drink a large glass of ice cold water , lay on your left side . There is meditation for contractions but I hope you don't need it . I did all of this x3 pregnancies

Wow. I’m going to do all of that. I’m literally chugging water and laying down. This happened with my first pregnancy but after the medication I was fine. This time I feel like it’s all coming back today.

Call your doctor maybe they'll put you on something to calm your uterus.

I feel like this is happening to me. I am already on procardia to calm my uterus down but started having contractions last night into this morning. I am also on prometrium to prevent preterm labor. I'm 33 weeks and was 2 cm dilated at my last appointment. I go into the dr at 11 this morning. Been laying on my left side drinking water but not helping 🙄

Hopefully when you get to the doctor they can give you some relief. It’s so crazy that you know our bodies can just be like well I wanna have this baby now and we have to do everything we can to stop it.

This happened to my mom when she was pregnant with me actually ! Everything turned out fine but I did end up still coming 4 weeks early.

I had the same thing happen!! I had it happen at 30 weeks but they stopped them with the shot and then at 35 I went in because my stomach had been getting hard all day and it was really hurting and I ended up being there for 2 days trying to space out my contractions. Also had to follow up with nst for 2 weeks and then we played the waiting game. Everyone thought he was gonna come early but turns out he held out and came on exactly his due date.

That’s what I’m hoping for. I’m waiting on the OB to call back since they stopped while I was at the hospital but by the time this morning rolled around they are back

Hey hey

From 24 weeks until I delivered at 36, I would have contractions. They would get as close as 4 mins apart and became regular. I'd have them all day and get worse in the afternoon/evening. I never dilated until 34ish weeks. Even then it was only half a centimeter. They told me for the longest time it was an irritable uterus but what they later said was that's prodromal labor and it can last a while. They never gave me interventions or anything to stop it. She held out until 36w1d and she ended up coming really fast. So I know it can be scary when things start early but it doesn't always mean you'll go into labor right away. Try this drink mix called Natural Calm, it helps with anxiety but also helps calm the contractions a little.

That is great to hear because they are not letting up. And when they had me hooked up to the monitors I wasn’t even feeling most of them so my timing at home was way off. I’ll try that tea out too.

I did end up in triage at least once a week though from 24-36 weeks. They kept wanting to check to make sure it hadn't progressed. I know it may feel silly to go so often but what they told me was if it feels like anything has changed (if the contractions are worse, closer together, or you think your water breaks) go in. Or of course 4 contractions in an hour go in. But it's a good sign if you're not feeling all of it. If you're able to, warm baths also help. My midwife always said before coming in try drinking water, a warm bath, and natural calm.

UPDATE: Saw my midwife today she said she was not concerned at all and myself and baby looks great. She said I will probably just continue to have them up until I start having labor causing contractions and not to worry.

This has been happening to me since I was 17 weeks. I go days with none then out of nowhere they come on again and sometimes last hours. None of them have had any effect on my cervix and im currently 21 weeks but we are monitoring really close to make sure nothing progresses. I have been hoping they would just go away but im 4 weeks into it happening and no changes so I hope its not like this my whole pregnancy 😢

Hopefully you get a “good” outcome like me. I’m 30weeks and they happen often but my midwife isn’t concern and told me it would Probably just continue until real contractions start.

Prayers Your Way Mama❤

I ended up staying the night in hospital last night due to what they think is an irritable uterus. I was 33 weeks yesterday and got severe pain in my left side that kept coming and going about every 10-15 minutes - I called triage about this, convinced it was something to do with my kidney. By the time I got there the pain had eased off loads and I was just left with a dull ache in my left side. They put me on the monitor and she asked if I could feel the contractions. I could feel a painless tightening every so often but just assumed it was braxton hicks. The monitor showed I was having regular mild contractions approx every 3 minutes. They checked my cervix but it’s still closed - kept me in over night just to make sure nothing progressed and by morning the contractions had stopped so I’ve been set free and told to call triage if I have any further issues. Let’s hope baby holds on for another 7 weeks 🤞🏼

Were they painful contractions? I'm 31 weeks 5days, I get constant braxton hicks that are borderline painful. And when I say constant I mean there was a whole week and a half of nonstop bh that didnt let up, they didnt get closer or stronger so i never called my ob. But all day long my uterus is tight and then the bh's start up. They dont go away with rest or anything I just wait them out pretty much. The last 2 days I've had actual like cramps for a few hours at a time that were period like with a little pain in my low back but nothing crazy... idk if this is IU or not, I've got my next appointment on March 23rd and will bring it up then too.

Aww. I think that’s what’s gonna end up happening with me. Since yesterday my stomach has been getting so hard and back pain has been crazy and the pressure on my V is wild. Gonna call the midwife tomorrow and see what they say

The pressure down south the last 2 days has caught me off guard. Like feeling like I can hardly walk.. on top of the stupid bh and cramps🙄

Yes that’s exactly what happens lol. And I can only feel the big ones like even when they put me on the monitor I thought they would send me home and come to find out I’m having big ones frequent that I just don’t notice. That’s what makes me nervous. I didn’t go into labor on my own or have Braxton Hicks with my son so things part is all of new to me.

That happens to me lately. But they stopped while I was at the hospital… and I wasn’t even there for those. I was there for bleeding. That also stopped, and had no known cause. :/ I’m 33 weeks.
