Why does no one talk about post partum discomfort?

Just a rant, I'm 5 days pp and I'm so unbelievably over the discomfort of down below, it feels worse than half the pregnancy symptoms we had. I just want to no longer be swollen or sore down there😂

No-one talks about this side of pregnancy at all. Im over the bleeding and feeling clean for a matter of minutes when I get out the shower. I'm almost 3 weeks pp and from my experience with my first, I still have a way to go! I empathise!! X

Omg I agree, I was never told it would be like that, I was expecting to be feeling good and back to my normal self after giving birth so it came as a bit of a shock when I felt worse than I did when I was pregnant 😂😂😂 very silly of me to think like that but no one’s ever talked about how I’d be feeling post birth, all they ever said were things about the baby and that I won’t get any sleep etc

I was like this with my first.. it took me ages to feel more like myself. This time round It's nowhere near as bad. I remember going to the toilet for the first time after and being so shocked at how much blood there was. it wasn't until 2 or 3 weeks later I realised it made sense haha. They definitely need to speak about how you will be after birth...especially if you're a first time mum.

@Paula @Sam do you have any advice on easing swelling and dryness down there?x

All I can advise is to keep up with ibuprofen (if you're able to have it) and paracetamol. Change your pads frequently and give yourself a freshen up each time with wipes. It's still early days. Hopefully, you start feeling more like yourself soon.

What wipes did you use? Sorry for the questions hah

it's OK ask away. Either moist toilet tissue from wherever I have shopped. or when they ran out just the baby wipes (we prefer huggies pure).

Or a perineal bottle!

Haha this is so true!!! I remember with my first being so shocked at the blood loss & discomfort….i thought it would just magically disappear!! It will…. And then we go on to want second and third babies….so I promise you will forget!! Take the advice from the lovely ladies above, and just try to focus on enjoying those newborn cuddles, because those memories fade too 🥲

Yeah I would just agree to keep up with the ibuprofen and paracetamol, that's all you can do really. I don't use anything down there, other than water from the shower. I don't use wet wipes at all x

This! I gave birth 10 days a go and when it gets to a certain time of the day my tolerance levels are down and I start to feel pain and tightness down below.

Oh I wish I was told about post partum healing! I'm 3 weeks in, the pain and swelling is a lot less, still bleeding but not heavy, but I do get sore after a walk which is frustrating when I've always been active. Hope you feel better soon!
