Help

Just gave birth a week ago. I feel so disconnected from him. I never felt this way either my daughter. I wish he was a girl and I know that’s a shitty thing to say…. I feel like I ruined my family

Awwww

As a mom to two boys and one on the way.. why do you feel like you ruined your family? I think of it as someone to carry on your family name. I have wanted a girl each of my pregnancies, I have never experienced still wanting them to be a girl after birth or feel how you are feeling but I am sorry you are feeling this way… have you talked to your doctor ? It could be PPD..

@Katherine because we were a perfect family of 3. My daughter was so easy. I don’t necessarily like my last name/family name since my inlaws and I don’t get along. I talked to my doctor and she is wanting to send me to counseling. We also don’t have a name for him yet which makes it harder to connect

I think it takes some momas a little longer to bond with their babies and feel that overwhelming love. You’re also used to having a girl so it may take time to get used to having a boy. I’m sure that feeling will fade as you get to know him better. We are built to adapt so give your self grace as you settle into having two babies. You just went through a lot and will be going through a lot for a while. Hormones are all over the place a week postpartum. You got this moma!!🩵

I agree with @Marlee Haag . You spent 9 not very easy months creating a human being. It truly takes time for some of us to fully adjust when things don’t necessarily go as expected or desired. But it for sure doesn’t make you a terrible person or family wrecker. When my son was born, I honestly felt annoyed and just wanted to sleep! It took time to truly build that deep overwhelming connection and joy.
