I waited 10 weeks, tired at 8 but it hurt so bad still. Stoped hurting/feeling uncomfortable about 6m pp. I choose to have a episiotomy.

I had a third degree tear and I waited 4 weeks. Although I was nervous, It didn't feel uncomfortable in any way and my partner knew to stop if I was in any discomfort

@Mikayla hurting bc of the episiotomy? or bc haven’t had sex in awhile?

@Kimberley aw i’m glad to hear that bc so many people say it’s painful to have sex

8-10 weeks at least x

6 weeks is the recommended time

@N 💞 i know it’s too long!!

@Abi 🤔 not really.

I had an episiotomy and I think we waited until about 10/11 weeks pp but I found it really painful, it was uncomfortable for a while, started to feel more normal again around 6/7 months post partum! X

4 months x

i only had a small tear but still waited until the day it turned 6 weeks as i was so worried 😅 i’d definitely recommend waiting if you’ve had a nasty tear. the chance of infection or damage or something isn’t worth the risk x

I had sex 6 weeks after me but it was painful even at 11 weeks PP it still hurts but I don’t know if that’s because of the fact I teared or if it’s because have a titled cervix as sex has always been painful for me

@Abi I know there's recommendations but just do if you feel comfortable enough and if it hurts stop and try again another time. Just listen to your body. My recovery was amazing and I felt no different down there which is why I tried so early x

about 5 and a half weeks after i had my first. i had a second degree tear and was really nervous but i didn't have any pain xx

I waited 8 weeks but I had an emergency c section under general anaesthetic so I wasn't really feeling it at all ,with a newborn I was more focused on surviving sleep deprivation🤣

6weeks is recommended due to infections. But it still hurts at 11weeks

I waited 6 weeks but is all about how u feel honestly remember to take it nice and slow the first couple times

I think I waited 12 weeks. It wasn't because it didn't want to, I was just too tired to even think about it. It wasn't painful nor uncomfortable for me

I tore 2nd degree, tried about 8 weeks after but it really hurt and hurt after every time I did, turned out I had vaginismus where the canal tightens up whenever something was to be inserted! X

So technically took forever for my body to warm back up to having sex again lol xx

@Emily yu got that after birth?

@Abi yeah it can happen through trauma so sexual abuse or giving birth, except I hadn't suffered SA and my birth wasn't traumatic to me, I think it was a mental thing where I scared myself into having it cause I couldn't wipe myself properly after giving birth it was always dabbing so I think I triggered it off myself! I've not heard of any other cases like this happening though! I know it can happen but it's just not very known. Don't scare yourself about it because you never know how smoothly your birth will go and everyone's body is different, this is just my personal experience and I kinda forgot that it happened up until I read sex after birth! Daughter is 19mo now and I'm pregnant with my 2nd so I'm definitely back in the works 🤣 xx

I had a third degree tear and waited almost 8 weeks (doctor’s recommendation for me). It was uncomfortable/painful and still is at 16 weeks postpartum. Going slowly at first helps. Some of these other comments give me hope that it’ll go back to normal eventually though!

@Emily i was like after my birth i dabbed and didn’t wipe ahah d

9 months lmao I was terrified

8 weeks

My girl is turning four months on the 25th and we haven’t had any. I had a third degree tear, then the stitches didn’t dissolve so I had them removed manually two weeks ago and I’m just so scared of the pain or if it’s gonna tear again 🥲 I haven’t even gained the courage to look at my lady bits after birth even though my mom looked and said they did a good job with the stitches

9months, my husband and I took that time to grow our intimacy in other ways like cuddling, intentional quality time, shared hobbies, at-home date nights💖Worth the wait, I was confident and excited to have sex and didn’t feel any pressure to have sex whatsoever

@Emily I had this happen too. I had suffered SA years previous, and found my birth traumatic to some degree. I had an episiotomy, and tried at 7 weeks, it was painful and continued to be painful for quite a while. It took me a while to feel fully back to myself, but of course everyone is different. I'm 4.5years pp now, my scar still hurts and causes issues occasionally but that's not very often now

7 weeks

.... Like 4-5 months 😅😅😅😅

It’s recommended 6 weeks but even after 6 weeks it’s not very comfortable so it’s really whenever you feel ready it took me over 3 months x

@Abi because of my episiotomy. It just took longer to heal compared to natural tear.
