Supply when returning to work

I’m struggling to pump enough for my daughter to be fed by family when I return to work, so I need to start using formula too. I’m so confused about it though, how do I know how much she needs and when? She’s EBF, eats 3 meals a day and breast feeds at 6am, 9am, 12pm, 2pm, 4pm, bedtime and then twice through the night, she hasn’t dropped any feeds since eating solids, I’m only just pumping 10oz a day when I’m not with her

Hey lovely! They have recommended servings on the back of the tub; but I spoke to my gp when breastfeeding and using formula to make sure I wasn’t over feeding and they helped me out as it’s done according to weight most of the time x

Thank you! I didn’t even think about it being on the tub as we’ve never used it before, thank you, I’ll ask my GP for advice too x

@Kerry no worries lovely! Yeah I use Kendamil and it’s on the tub, I assume it should be the same for all & good luck 🩷

If your LO will be 1 year is it worth going to cows milk rather than formula?

I'm having low supply whilst expressing in work, it's stressful. I feed her before I leave for work and as soon as I get home. I then leave a bottle and that seems to keep her going during the day. They do adapt.

Have your family noticed that she is wanting milk or is it the routine of milk you'd like to sustain?

@Sarah I will switch to cows milk once she’s one x

@Becka she has two naps a day, but when my partner has her she always has an 6oz bottle with her morning nap and then 8oz with her afternoon. I think I’m probably more worried about the fact I have to leave her for so long when I know how much she normally feeds, I do think she’ll adapt well, think it’s more me stressing

That's amazing quanities of expressed breastmilk! I only get 4oz for her! 👏🏻 I absolutely relate to the worry, we've been feeding them for 9 months and suddenly we have to return to work. She will be absolutely fine and you'll find a new norm. Do you work near to where she'll be during the day as a worst case someone drop her to you for a feed?

@Becka I had built a bit of a supply in the freezer but I have been doing KIT days and it’s gone down so quickly My MIL lives close to my work, it’s just the three other days I won’t be able to come out to feed her I think I just need a week of seeing how it all goes and then it’ll put my mind at ease, thank you for your advice xx

I really do feel what you're going through so I hope everything goes well for you x
