Milton cold water steriliser

Some people can smell it but I never have, I’ve used mine since the day she was born and never smelt it or had an issue with it

Yes, we could smell it and our little one didn’t like bottles that had been sterilised with it. Loads of babies get in fine with it though!

I don’t know how I feel about giving the bottles to my baby if I can smell it on them though? Even if he doesn’t mind it

It is perfectly safe. They wouldn’t use them in hospital if they weren’t

I just rinse them with boiling water before making the formula that seems to reduce the smell

Milton is bleach. Bleach breaks down into salt and water. It's perfectly safe and that's why it's used in hospitals

We used a Milton steriliser and I could smell it so I used to rinse the bottles and teats in filtered water from the britta. I got rid of it after about a month as I switched to the MAM self sterilising bottles

@Kate rinsing in water completely undoes the sterilisation you've just done. I know you've switched now but just in case for future

I've never smelt it and I've been using Milton's since my little one was about 4 months old as I got sick of constantly having to descale the electric steriliser

@Kate I have actually got the mam bottles, do you just sterilise with water in the bottom in the microwave?

Yes, just unscrew the base from the body of it, put about 10-20ml of water in the base, put the teat on it and just put the body over both of them but don’t screw it. 3 mins and it’s done and just let it cool for 5 mins. So much easier than having stinky bleach smell on the bottles
