@Laura Byrne I’m in a bit of a difficult situation:( because I am seasonal and my contract ends the beginning of November - I am having to take my maternity early (which the government states is 11 weeks before the due date). Luckily, I’m still able to work for another employer during this time so I’m not going mad cooped up at home waiting for my babies arrival - but the downside is that I won’t get the full 9 months with my little ones. My maternity would be up 11 weeks earlier when they’re here due to having to take it when they say and not on my own say :( worrying that i won’t get financial support if i decide to take more time off with my little ones due to the mess I’m currently in because of the employment situation 🙁
I went a week before my due date with my singleton and went back after a year (already pregnant with twins). I needed to work as much as I could to cover the next mat leave so I worked until 2 days before my section at 37 weeks, and again went back after 1 year. I'm lucky to have a non physically taxing job where I can wfh full time.
I stopped getting maternity pay when they were seven months corrected (9mths actual) and won’t get anything now unless I return. I’m on sabbatical so have a job in a years time but it means I can’t work for another employer
There was no way we were gonna be able to afford childcare for twins so I stopped working when I physically couldn't do it anymore which was 33w5d and I'll go back when they're 5! 😅
@Kylee children can now start school at two years old so that’s a positive
@Laura Byrne very true! They'll start half day preschool at 3-4 and then once they're gone all day for kindergarten I'll go back to work
I finished work at 32 weeks with my twins, took two weeksAL then started maternity leave leave 34 weeks. Born at 36+5. Am hoping to take a year off
With my singleton I stopped work the morning of my induction and with the triplets I finished the day before they were booked for section. Singleton went back at 9mths old and triplets im not going back till they’re two and I get funding for nursery.
