Feel so bad! Cradle cap/oil

I have been waiting for my sons cradle cap to just fall away naturally but I noticed he was scratching it and cutting himself so I thought I better do something about it and I applied extra virgin olive oil thinking this was a natural option. He now has a terrible rash/dry skin all over his face. The cradle cap is still there but now he scratches his face and his scalp! Any advice or good products to use please? Thanks!

We've been using dentinox cradle crap shampoo and a soft bristle brush. It's almost all gone and she's had loads of hair grow recently.

I’ve used the loyon spray from boots and I feel that’s worked well x

@Jayde Same here, it’s slowly disappearing

I used the frida baby brush set and the cradle cap cream and shampoo from mustela. Got rid of it completely after 2 baths

I used olive oil on my son and no reaction happened. Maybe your boy might be allergic. I used dentinox shampoo but it’s shit if you ask me. Be careful with brush sets as I know a lot of babies have got bald patches from them. Try baby oil instead, leave it on all day and wash it off before bed? It may help x

Baby oil did the trick for us put it in an hour or 2 before bath time give it a gentle brush before you wash it off

As annabel said! Leave the oil on overnight, then shampoo twice with the shampoo and use a nit comb type thing to remove the flakes.

Could it be eczema / seborrheic dermatitis? My son’s eczema started as what I thought was just itchy cradle cap. Because of the rash I’d be super careful about putting on other products. Cradle cap isn’t meant to itch so I’m not sure I’d bother trying to treat cradle cap right now, would be more concerned with not flaring up the sensitive skin. Any food based products are best avoided due to allergy risk (I’d also be careful of shampoos etc containing food products like coconut). Maybe go to the pharmacy and get some eczema cream like cetraben for the dryness. But patch test first x
