IUI or IVF as a single mum

Wondering if anyone has any experience or has considered using IUI or IVF treatments as a single mum to have another child? I've got 2year old son who I have been the sole caregiver his entire life, his biological father left when I got pregnant and has never been involved either physically or financially. I really want to have more children in the next few years. Ive always wanted at least 2 children and I'd like for my son to have siblings close in age. I have my own place and a stable job that is offering lots of chances to progress, my son is in nursery and we've got a good day to day schedule that works for us. I've tried dating again but honestly it's not for me, I like being independent and whn I do go on dates I find myself being too analytical of if they'd be a good parent or not. I don't want to date someone solely because I want more children, that doesn't seem like a good reason to start a relationship. I've done it all by myself before, so why not again but this time without the emotional turmoil of abandonment. Just wanted to hear people's opinions on this as it's something that I'm truly considering.

Yes I have just had a son via donor conception. It’s been the best experience and wonderful decision however there’s a lot to consider and stuff I’ve learnt since having him. I’ll post some links for you below…. Consider ethical, legal, and practical stuff mainly. Do a lot of background reading into known vs unknown donors (including ethics and hearing the voices of donor conceived people in respect to knowing their biological origins), consider the differences between your childrens siblings and their biological origins (it might not bother you but may them as they grow). Cost is high for IUI and likely triple for IVF. I spent around £10K for IUI for a 3 cycle package. Many I know have spent £30K+++ xxx

@Lydia Thank you 😊 if I am to go ahead I would use an unknown donor but i will do my research before choosing. Cost is something that I am looking at, if I go ahead with IUI it wouldn't be until at least 2026 so my aim is to save up for it all of next year. I got pregnant quite easily before and I'm still in my 20s so my fertility is quite high, Hoping this will mean less cycles x

I am currently pregnant with a baby conceived through donor insemination (IUI). Happy to chat.
