@Emily does it speed up labour?
I think it’s supposed to separate the membranes to release hormones which can trigger labour. But isn’t guaranteed to work. Midwife said it’ll only work if my body is also ready to go into labour. They tried to give me a sweep on Saturday last week but couldn’t as my cervix wasn’t open enough. So hoping tomorrow it’ll be open enough for them to try. They said to me within 48hrs of a sweep labour can start but just depends if my body is ready to start, so if not will induce me at 41 weeks x
