Opinion on getting my daughter some fish for her room

I’ve been thinking about doing this for Christmas but I’m on the fence about it If i do it’ll be on one of the proper tanks that cant be easily knocked over Shes obviously too young to look after them but i think she’ll enjoy watching them Idk 😅 we have a fish obsessed doggo but she’s not allowed in the kids room anyway Should I wait? Or should i do it?

Would maybe a sensory tank with fake fish be better until she gets older? Or maybe a trial to see if it’s a good idea?

@sarah I had a similar thing (one of the speakers with the bubbles and fake fish 😅) but I didn’t like it. The fish hardly went into the bubbles so mostly just sat on the bottom. Any suggestions for better ones?

We got given a fish tank(with fish) as in laws retired and wanted to travel more, mine does love the fish HOWEVER it's more of a pita than I was anticipating with cleaning and whatnot. Ours is large though and not one of the fancy new ones... I wish we'd never taken it on but it doesn't help that some of the fish that came with it are pricks that love to eat/chase other fish so we can't get many suitable new additions 😂 I would definitely recommend a small one if you go for it. Would the lights/bubbling noises at night be an issue?

@Rachel tbh I kinda think the lights and bubbles would help at night she doesn’t sleep without some sort of noise and the light would replace her night light (which recently broke and rn we need to keep the hall light on lol) definitely open to a small one but do you have any recommendations for one that she wouldn’t be able to knock over 😅 that’s like one of my main worries

A lot of the newer ones come built in to cabinets, which you can attach to the wall like other furniture. It's not cheap though. I've found most garden centres with fish have really knowledgeable and helpful employees so I'd go and have a chat/have a look in person 😊

@Rachel this is kinda the ones I’ve been looking at I seen one for £80 that I’m really considering but I’m still kinda worried 😅 tbh I think it would need to be attached to the wall for me to actually trust it in her room but I don’t know how to check if they do 🙃 I’ll have a look thanks ☺️
