Girls - Soreness

Hi just looking for some advice. I noticed last night that my daughters private area was really red and looked sore, she then wouldn't let me wipe the area. I did then manage to clean the area. I looked online and it says to avoid tight fitting clothes, but I'm unsure how to do that. As she wears knickers and leggings, most of the time, or of it's a dress its with tights. Also do you put your little ones in underwear underneath PJ bottoms? Any suggestions on how to treat as well, I suffer a lot but mine is due to allergies. She says it doesn't heard to wee just to wipe afterwards. We don't think nursery are cleaning properly after shes been to the toilet or because she says I can do it, they are letting her do it herself. Going to speak to them today

We have had this recently. It is a combination of many things.... usually not cleaning "gently" .... I have noticed if I have vigorously wiped - over time she is sore..🥺 also tight underwear.... so we have fixed that with good quality knickers. And the last one - to treat the redness ....we hose down the area during a bath, gently wipe and we use Weleda nappy cream. It seems to work... also noticed if my little one is not hydrated enough , she tends to be a bit sore...

Is it itchy? Is she potty trained? We’ve had the same with my little one since potty training, it’s called vulvovaginitis. We had to stop using body wash and get a cream wash from the GP as it was irritating her down there. Make sure she wipes front to back and also make sure her pants are 100% cotton. If that doesn’t help, you may need a mild steroid cream from the GP. You can also use a nappy rash cream to help x

Thankyou for this, yeh she's potty trained & i don't think she is wiping herself probably, at home I always make sure she's doing it right but at nursery I think they let her do it herself

Wiping front to back, cleaning regularly (gently with a very soft flannel or cotton balls with just water) outside of bath days and using yellow metanium cream has helped us with this. Due to allergies for my little girl!

Yes I've had this with both my daughters. Same as advice already given regarding 100% knickers, stop using body wash in bath and GP advised we use a nappy rash cream such as sudocrem. That really helped. I hope your daughter gets better x
