Dad afraid of being alone with baby?

My lo is 6 months and my boyfriend is like afraid to be alone with her. Ince she was born i have done everything. Only when i ask him to do things he does. Im ready to go back to work and he said we are putting her in daycare. Mind you he doesn't work and hasn't for almost 6 months... I don't particularly want her in daycare yet especially when we don't need to! Makes me frustrated Any mommies relate?

He might be scared, some dads get really anxious as they’re scared due to baby being so fragile. I’d have a conversation with him and find out what’s going on

@Samantha It's definitely not that 🤣 he gets nervous she will cry when he has her but I tell that's just apart of having a baby and he has to find his own way to soothe her

My partner was like this at first. It used to make me frustrated because I did most of the things with her and he would do more of the housework because of it. It took a while to convince him it’s actually healthy for them to have bonding time too and for me to be able to have some time to myself. He first started taking her out to his parents. He only had the car journey alone and once he knew she was alright he started doing it more. Now he will take her to the park for an hour or go shopping and take her with him. I think it is an age thing with my partner, as my daughter can walk now so it’s less scary than when she was a baby who would cry a lot more. What if he just takes her for a short walk in her pushchair round the block and sees how it goes? Or could you provide him a list and tell him or show him what you do when your child cries to settle them?

Maybe build up to it so he has more confidence. Let him stay with her along for an hour, then 2 and increase it. It’s not fair that you should spend money on daycare if he’s not working, that’s ridiculous. I would be giving an ultimatum tbh if possible (obviously I don’t know why he’s not working), but if there’s not particular reason then I’d be saying, go to work or you’re watching her in the day when I’m at work x
