1 year olds eating habits.

So my 1 year old LOVED anything I made him, now he’ll only eat grapes kiwis and strawberries from his high chair… everything else he throws off. And I take him out of the high chair because i won’t make him anything else. So he eats everything off the floor… I do vacuum his area 3 times a day, but is there a way to make him eat from the high chair again?

Eh I don’t think so. If he’s only eating off the floor then maybe just let him. Still try to offer at his church but kids love floor food lol. Maybe have the chair in a specific spot and clean those floors and then just let him

Unfortunately this is a form of play/learning that you do want to see from your little, just not with the food 😅. The only thing that worked for my two littles was when they started to throw firmly say no and not cleaning up until either they helped or were asleep/out of the room and not seeing that I would pick it up. Also pairing it with telling him we do not throw our food we eat our food and hand-over-hand show him that the food stays on the plate and just tell mama he is all done, in whatever way baby knows how to communicate this with you. I realized when he didn't have anything to find on the floor later he had to eat what I was serving him on the plate. A lot of praise/dancing/cheering (positive reinforcements) etc for the wanted behavior !! Great thing is that they do grow out of it!

I learned that it is innate for humans to make mess and cleaning up and tidiness is a learned behavior and that really shifted my mindset on the level of frustration I would have with the mess. Make it fun and have patience Best ✨

Okay, so I thought the same thing. Maybe he just doesn’t like the high chair theme. BUT he also likes to feed our dog, so I’ve put him on the floor, and had the dog with him, and our dog is super good and won’t take any food from the floor unless I tell her she can. But he seems to like eating off the floor with the dog near by, then eating at all. He also try’s to share with our Harley and gets mad when Harley takes the food.

I also find my son doesn’t nap good unless he’s full.. so I’m pretty torn

When I tell him no, that’s for you, he’ll put it in his mouth, chew it and then take it out and try to feed it to the dog

We definitely had to embrace the eating off the floor/eating on the go phase. He still does it but in a different way. Like he likes to eat his breakfast on the chair on the balcony. He like to snack on an inflatable mattress that’s been in our living room for almost 2 months bc my brother was supposed to visit. Etc.
