Stress

My boyfriend is not easily stressed out, like it takes a lot. We have so much to do before baby arrives and I'm stressed about it but he doesn't feel the stress!! It then makes me more stressed and more angry that he's not worried at all, and it kinda makes me feel like my stress is invalidated! Like, I just want someone else to feel this sense of urgency to get things done!! I know I have 9/10 weeks until my due date but baby could arrive literally any time in the next 10 weeks! Then I find out today that I have high blood pressure which I'm now worried about, but he says not to worry about it! But what if it's preeclampsia!? That's a very stressful situation!! AND HE'S JUST TOTALLY FINE!!! My hormones are telling me that he doesn't care about the pregnancy 😭 Uuuuuuuuggggggghhhhhhh!!!!!!!

I had high blood pressure around this time in my first pregnancy. It wasn’t preeclampsia but was very high I was also very stressed about literally everything, and when I went into labour it only got worse so had to have medication to bring it down. This pregnancy I’ve been higher monitoring due to it but my blood pressure has remained stable so far. I’ve literally avoided any stress this pregnancy however. I would just remember if baby has somewhere safe to sleep, clothes, a form of food and warm house then everything else can wait to be done x

Unfortunately I think it's very normal for the dad to be quite laid back about it all. Your hormones are making you feel this way and they just don't have that. I remember talking to my husband with our first and he said it just didn't feel real to him and he's not waking up everyday abundantly aware of being pregnant like we are, we don't get a chance to forget it! As above, you don't need as much as you think you do, probably try talking to other mums/mums to be to help rather than your super chill boyfriend!

Also doing antenatal classes helped my husband make it feel more real!

Me and my bf are the same in general, I stress and he's laid back and normally that calms me down as little cause if I know he's stressed it's something major 🤣 However I only have 8 weeks to go and the nursery furniture hasn't arrived all baby's stuff is in boxes waiting to be organised and it stresses me every day and he just keeps saying we will get it done 🙈 which before would ease me but can irritate me now! It's just the way he is lol, as previous messages as long as baby has a safe place to sleep etc you will be grand 😊 you will probably surprise yourself and be more sorted than you think! X

I’d try refocusing onto being proactive. Make lists, set targets for getting things done by a certain date e.g put a full day aside to tick off 3/4 things from the list etc. Take control of it and that should hopefully start to calm you down once you see progress. Focusing on him and his stress won’t help get things done because it’s probably just his personality. My other half is the same - nothing would get done. So I just make it happen.

My partner is not stressy at all, but I see this as a Godsend as it helps me stay calm too 😊
