Formula feeding

My LG is 5 weeks old, and it takes her 1/1.5 hours to finish her milk. Sometimes, she doesn't even finish half of what she needs to eat and falls asleep from sucking for too long. I'm currently using a correct teat size and all (size 2 from birth and size 3 is from 3 months), but I'm not sure what the problem is. I'm using Philips avent bottle. Should I try different bottles or teat sizes? The next teat size will be 6+ and I think that's too early for her.

Have you had her latch checked for a tongue tie? That is a long time to drink a bottle so it could be quite hard for her

Yeah maybe try a different bottle and teat x

Try the MAM bottles size 2 teats: x

You could try a different bottle teat size and shape and I’d maybe start some oral play exercises- has she been checked for a tongue tie? You could try a different feeding position too! X

@Charley not yet, I have health visitor appointment next week so I'll get it checked then, thanks x

@Sarah I've tried mam bottles size 0 and 1 and my LG was choking from too fast flow 😭x

@Gemma I've used MAM bottle before and even newborn teat size was too fast for her, do you recommend any other bottle? X

@Jessica what about dr browns bottles or tommee tippee anti colic bottles

Dr.Browns worked the best for my baby, but I second what others have commented about the tongue tie issue and that you should get it checked just in case!

@Jessica the only other one I can think is the lansinoh ones! If you’ve gone up a teat size then drop back down. Have a look at her latch- make sure she’s got a good one. What position are you feeding her in? Feel free to send me a message if you like and I can send you a link to an oral play guide- you have to pay but might be worth it to help with some oral function problems if that is the case :) x
