Changing jobs ready for school

I currently work shifts which means working every other weekend, at the moment it works great for us as our childcare fees are more than half the cost I don't want to be working shifts when she starts school next year, but I change jobs now (days roles are quite rare) it would be a drop in salary and obviously a full week at nursery, which will leave me brassic. I really don't know what to do the for best, and find myself constantly worrying. My huaband has offered to up his share in the nursery fee, but that would need to £200-£300 and it feels wrong when I'm the biggest earner

Change now, you will regret if you don't do it. And you can go avoiding extra expenses for a bit. If the husband can help where's the problem? It's a family, doesn't matter who earns more. The money are for the family, not for you, unless you use these extra money for vacations or living the life. I would go for it

There's no way to change job closer to the time? X

@Jo day shifts in what I do (maintenance engineer) are quite rare, so I am thinking to bite the bullet now if the right fit comes up

@Alessia i fully understand what you are saying, it will just leave us both struggling, but then i suppose once she starts school we won't have the massive expense of nursery. I'm a massive over thinker and worrier 🫣

That makes sense, hopefully the 30 hours free nursery time will help you guys with cost until September (also are you doing tax free childcare? That saves some money too) x

@Jo yeh we use all this, out monthly bill at the momet is £300-£400 but it will double if I do change roles
