Possible misdiagnosis

So I got diagnosed at 28 weeks, because of a high fasting reading at the gtt. I was extremely unwell, hadn't slept that night at all. I asked for a retest because of the unusual circumstances for me and they declined. I've been testing 6 times a day for 8 weeks now, and I've only ever had one high reading with my usual diet.... pizza, Chinese, brownies, cookies, everything we are told to avoid. I asked my doctor could I just test 4 times a day a few weeks ago because my readings were going so well and was told no. Today it was a different doctor and they said they don't think I have GD, as my numbers are very well controlled and considering the food I eat, my numbers should be a lot higher than they are. I normally have an appointment every two weeks to review my numbers but got told today, that this would be my last GD appointment as no more are needed. With the GD diagnosis I still can't go as overdue as I would like, I wanted a water birth which I'm not allowed because of the diagnosis, and in any future pregnancies the diagnosis is going to linger over me, when in reality there's a good chance I never had GD to begin with.

Sorry you had to go through all that. Might be worth you asking the doctor to confirm in writing in a letter that you do not have GD, to set the record straight. Nothing to stop you asking for a GTT for another pregnancy in the future I suppose, but a letter might be good to set the record straight.

Do you recall if you were advised water birth out of question with GD? Speaking to a midwife last week she confirmed that given no additional complications - all ok for water birth. Rules might differ between hospitals, not easy to navigate that at all

First off that’s messed up. Sorry it happened to you. That’s a lot testing 6 times a day that’s a baby bottle schedule. Then to find out that you might not have had it but they won’t take it off your records and your plans are thrown out the window for a water birth. The least they can do is try to see if you can if you don’t have GD. I hope it works out for you.
