Gestational diabetes

Just found out I have gestational diabetes due to some bloods done by GP. Anyone had this in past pregnancy’s or have it now and have any tips?

I’ve had it since 11 weeks and had it in previous pregnancy. Definitely get a good diabetes recipe book. Amazon do a lot of them. It’s mainly diet controlled (hopefully) for most. Mixing things like apple and peanut butter, choose full fats things like soft cheeses or yoghurts rather than half sugars/low fats. Try and limit white bread rice pastas and choose things like wholemeal basmati rice and grains. It can be complicated to get used to start with the diet changes. There’s a good Facebook page called Gestational Diabetes UK to. X

I’m having a test done tomorrow to check, so nervous 19wks

I found the messaging for GD was really poor and it felt really scary. They put me on the freestyle libre where you can track your glucose on the app. Babybels have become an absolute STAPLE! I was diagnosed around 8 weeks and I’m nearly 20 weeks now. Next week they want to start me on bed time insulin. If anyone is interested in a gestational diabetes support group I’m all in, please reach out and I’ll set up a chat! ♥️
