nappy rash

my LB has got really bad nappy rash as he’s teething horrifically and pooing lots. i spoke to the HV yesterday and she said just to keep applying cream to it and obviously changing nappy’s regularly, but it doesn’t seem to be getting any better. does anyone have any advice? i’ll be calling the gp tomorrow if it doesn’t get better today

My baby hasn’t had a bad nappy rash yet, but as soon as I suspect one to be developing I use metanium treatment cream and it clears after a couple of uses

If not already used then yellow metanium cream! And day cream once rash has gone. It's like miracle cream when my son has had bad nappy rash. And if you can then have some nappy off time with a waterproof sheet under him so will catch any accidents

Metanium is a life saver! Don’t use the other creams their rubbish! X

i’ve been using metanium since he was born, and it’s always worked an absolute treat. he never ever gets bad nappy rash, but this time it’s just awful and he’s so uncomfortable 😩

I went to the pharmacy by me and they gave me steroid cream to apply twice a day on the common ailments prescription. It was amazing and worked so well. You’re only allowed to use it twice a day for a week but that should be all you need. My little boy was poorly and had one really acidic poo that left him really sore and using that steroid cream cleared the soreness up in a couple of days. X

Have you been using the treatment cream (yellow) or just the day cream? Nappy free time is also recommended if that’s doable for you at all

@Hannah i didn’t even think of this! wasn’t sure if nappy rash was something they did on the common ailments because of them being babies. other than the cream, what else did you do to make them more comfortable whilst letting the cream do its thing? X

Its worth going to GP! My babies nappy rash when younger was due to fungal infection and only went away after fungal cream and the yellow cream

@Tyler we’ve go the yellow metanium cream. he’s going to have lots of nappy free time today. i would rather wee getting on my carpet than him being sore and uncomfortable you know?

This might sound crazy but I found cream made the nappy rash worse as what causes it in the first place is moisture. What I did was stop using cream and keeping the nappy off for a couple of minutes after each frequent change. Before every bottle I would change the nappy which was about every 3/4 hours

Are you putting on a very thin layer, if it's too thick it's too wet x

Sudosalve helped us a lot

I didn't think metamium worked very well for us.. although Sudasalve worked really good for us! Also make sure its dry before you put any cream on as you'll be locking in moisture. Regular changing of nappies and also we put some puppy pads down and let him nappy free for an hr to let the air get to it abit x

i’ve spoken to my health visitor again, and she’s recommended putting a thin layer of metanium on (which i was doing anyway) and then sealing it with bepanthen, so fingers crossed that works 🤞🏻 thank you for your help everyone xx
