Won’t sit still!!

Everyday when I’m playing with my little one it’s like he can’t sit still. I know he’s learning and exploring but I’m worried he’s not learning many skills. At first I thought he was overwhelmed with the amount of toys so I only get one or two out at a time now but he just seems so uninterested. He would much rather crawl around and try and stand with everything he can. I’m worried that he’s so focused on moving around that he’s not picking up anything else. He doesn’t like to play with me and would much rather do his own thing while I sit in the room with him. I’ve been trying to teach him to put a ball in a basket as I’ve read this should be something he should be picking up at around this age. He picks up the ball, bites it then throws it to the floor before moving onto something else. Should I be worried? Should I be trying harder to get him to do it or just let him do his own thing?

Sounds normal! If he is interested in focusing on gross motor skills right now, play into that interest and give him opportunities to stand and cruise along furniture

Completely normal for this age. Imagine your whole life youve been limited to where someone put you and now you have freedom to go where you want! 😍

I find that if I play with the toy a bit each day, baby will randomly be interested in it like a couple weeks later. My baby also is more interested in cars / anything with wheels, and percussion instruments at this age

I would focus more on doing things would work with their interests. What he is doing at this age is completely normal.

Let him do his own thing, follow his lead and just enjoy watching him explore. Sounds like he’s developing his physical skills right now and is doing an amazing job at it! You’re doing well mumma, plenty of time for him to develop other skills later 😉
