Out of curiosity,, why can't you keep your pension if you no longer work within the NHS?
@Xing Yi I can keep it, but if I move to a job outside the NHS I won't be topping it up and it won't be worth anywhere near as much when I retire x
I work 12hrs shift leave the house 5am and back at 6.30pm but i do get time off in the week
Completely empathise. I'm hybrid but when I go to the office I'm up at 5am and commute by train - which takes longer than it should as there's no direct route. I get back/log off earlier but timings vary and it's not always much earlier. I have to leave/log off on time as there's little flex on when little one comes home. Husband works on a rolling shift pattern which includes lates & nights so I'm on my own with little one 4 evenings out of 10 which doesn't include the time husband needs to catch up after nights etc. He's also studying so there's that. Looking for roles closer to home but my job is quite specialist and there aren't many suitable vacancies near me. Even if I could get such a job, it would mean postponing/giving up a career route I've been following for over a decade. It's not easy or fair. The Mum guilt is awful. Hope you find what you're looking for.
Not sure what you do but can you put in a flexible working request to wfh 1 day a week?
Thanks guys it's hard work isn't it, I feel your pain @Alex I've left a position before because progression was near impossible unless you had a heads up from management (sad but true!) and had to essentially start again and it's tough. Hopefully everything will sort itself out/get a little easier. I just feel like I want a better balance in time for her starting school.
I feel this, im a nurse working for the NHS, currently on mat leave with my second baby but it's bloody hard work isn't it!! Really not looking forward to going back x
