Feeding difficulty

My little one is 18 weeks old now. He has always been a good eater, but for the past month, I’ve been struggling with his feedings. He's on formula, but I’ve noticed that he’s not as interested in drinking his milk. He either plays with the bottle teat or keeps it in his mouth without sucking. It seems like he's having trouble latching, and as a result, he's not drinking as much as he should. I’m not sure if this is just a phase or if it’s something unique to him. Has anyone else experienced this? I would appreciate any advice.

Does he need a bigger teat?

Have you weighed him recently? What are his nappies like? I breastfeed, but baby behaviour is the same either way, and they do often get very distracted and awkward around feeding at about 4 months. Are there any times of day you've noticed he feeds better? Maybe when it's quiet, or he's sleepy?

My son got fussy like this at 15 weeks and I’ve figured it was the temperature he didn’t like. He use to drink it straight from the fridge but now likes it room temp. When working out why he changed I tried a bigger teat but he dribbled it everywhere! I also left it longer between feeds and let him go 4 - 5hrs (unless he tells me otherwise!) so he is actually hungry rather than the 3ish hours I was previously doing and that’s helped a lot too.

@Charlotte yes only when he is sleepy he drinks his bottle peacefully.

@Penny same as my lil one , i changed the teat size but its pretty fast flow for him. I’ll try to change temperature aswell : he drinks on room temperature atm or slight more than it . Hoping this gets better soon 😔
