Child abandonment

Has anyone filled for Child Abandonment to terminate other parents rights? I’m trying to figure out how that works my baby is 6 months old and her dad has never met her or wants to so I’m thinking about filling for termination of his rights since where I live if you go 6 months with out trying to see your child of provide financial or emotional support is the grounds for termination.

Is this in US?

@Lauryne Yes Kansas

Wish I could do this in the uk lol

In jersey it’s 12 months of abandonment to lose parental rights I never filed for it but if the father tried you could show him and if he wants to pursue it tell him to file the court child support. Cuz at least then when he request to be in his kids life you can petition it. Confirm the removal of parental right. Courts systems are sooo annoying so that’s why I personal didn’t file but hopefully Kansas is more user friendly

@Caitlin same 🥲

@Caitlin girllll 😭🤣 I really hear you

@angeline thank you!!

@Caitlin girl I just found about it and my jaw dropped like “wait what” that’s a thing 😂

@Caitlin same! Why is the UK so awful

Usually a year to be safe. they have to be informed of the filing in case they’re against it. Some judges will only allow you to do it if there’s a stepparent wanting to adopt

I ran to google and got excited when I saw your post 🤣
