Forgot to mention she’s 6 months

I’m in the same boat. Mine is 7 months. I just have to keep breathing and stay calm. I watched a lot of videos on what to do when they are choking and also people have mentioned to take a cpr course.

Keep in mind babies cannot break down starch until their molars come in… look up Barbara Onielle and @wildnutritionist on Instagram for food info 🩷

A thought to consider: babies can in theory choke on anything, as can adults. The difference is that, if properly prepared, any foods that get lodged will respond to back blows and, if necessary, baby CPR. Foods like grapes and uncut hot dogs are choking hazards because of their shape. They get lodged and stay there, and are the perfect shape to fully block a windpipe. When you perform back blows and chest thrusts on an infant, it creates a vibration that dislodges the food. Round-shaped choking hazards don't respond to this treatment which is why they get stuck and stay there. Foods that are properly prepared WILL respond. If a piece of strawberry or banana gets lodged you can have confidence that, as long as you know what to do, the back blows and chest thrusts will work almost every time and the food will come out. I've had to use it and have seen it happen. It does work. Babies are not MORE likely to choke on some foods than others, but if the food is properly prepared, you can get it out.

We tried baby led weaning a few times but each time he choked, not gagged, actually choked and got back blows. I was so stressed that it wasn't worth it. We're on purees for a couple of months until we try again. Some of them aren't completely smooth but he's fine with them so he does get a bit of texture and we're also giving him those melty sticks too

My baby is 8 months and I’m also terrified. We’re giving purées and I’m just making them less and less smooth. He also loves the melty puffs which I’m dipping in puree and giving him. They’re a good first one as they do melt. We’re just starting to introduce some finger foods very slowly and checking how to prepare them through solid starts

Have you checked out solid start they have lots of useful information. Gagging is normal as it's alo brand new to them,

Solid Starts, Boob to Food, and Feeding littles all have food ideas. Solid Starts has an app with food recs as well as how and when to introduce certain foods. CPR classes helped me and practicing the maneuvers on my baby. She’s choked 2x since 6m and luckily by practicing and knowing what to do, she was fine every time. She’s 15m now.

To add, I did baby led weaning and started intro to solids at 4/5m with teethers. Researching and educating myself helped with my anxiety. I knew what to look for and how to serve foods safely❤️you’ve got this! You’re baby is capable, baby’s have natural gag reflexes to help them
